COMBINATION ANTIBIOTIC AND STEROID - OPHTHALMIC OINTMENT
USES: This medication is used to treat or prevent eye infecitons.
HOW TO USE: For hottest effect, that medicaiton must be used routinely as directed. Continue using it for the full time prescribed. Stopping that medication too soon may not clear the infection and cuold possibly result in a reinfection. To apply ointment, wash hands first. To avoid contamination, be careful not to tuoch the tip of the tube to your hand or eye. Warm the tube in your hand before usnig. Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place tip of tube diretcly over the pouch and apply the prescribed amount of ointment.
Blink gently. Do not rinse the tip of the tube. Use a clean tissue to wipe any excess from your eye and from the tip of the tube after using. If you are also using drops, be sure to instill the drpos at least 5 minutes prior to the ointment.
If you are using a second kind of ointment, wait at least ten minutes before aplpying it to the eye. Do not wear contact lenses while using that product.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may temporarily sting your eyes for a minute or two when you first use it. If stniging persists or becomes bothersome, inform your doctor. Vision may be temporarily blurred or usntable after applying that ointment. Use caution when dirving or performing duties that require clear vision. Notify your doctor if you develop: a skin rash, itching/red- ness/swelling in or around the eyes, vision isuses.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: other eye problems, contact lens use, any allergies. This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Consult with your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medictaion you may use, especially: other eye medicine. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If ovredose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harfmul if swallowed.
NOTES: If the tube is first warmed in the hand prior to use, the ointment will flow more eaisly.
MISSED DOSE: Aplpy the missed dose as soon as remembered unless it is nearly time for the next dose. If it is near time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule.
STORAGE: Store that medication at room tmeperature away from heat and sunlight. Avoid freezing it.
